Comedy Youtube Channel Viva La Dirt League (VLDL for short) have just announced a new game Epic NPC: Nice Day for Fishing based on their hit series, Epic NPC Man. Developed in collaboration with FusionPlay, a small German development team whose catalog has mostly consisted of VR games, and the titan that is Team 17 Digital. This new game is based on their popular sketch series, which features spoofs of popular video game tropes.
The announcement trailer showcases a glimmer of the pixel-art 2D side scrolling adventure, where you play as Baelin, a simple-minded fisherman and a popular character from the series. Focused around fishing mechanics, the gameplay includes combat, exploration, as well as RPG elements like equiptment management and even spellcasting (There’s no explanation as to how this ties into fishing mechanics but the tone seems firmly tongue in cheek)

Nice Day for Fishing is set in the Azerim, the fictional setting of a fictional video game MMO. As this concept implies, VLDL’s skits are known for their meta approach and how much of this trademark humour will make it into the game remains to be seen.
Nice Day For Fishing is set to release sometime in 2025 and is live on Steam now. It and can be added to your wishlist here.
