Next Fest To Go Live Next Week

Steam’s showcase provide an opportunity to peer into the future of PC gaming.

Hot off the back of Microsoft’s Developer Direct, Steam’s Next Fest promises an incredible look into upcoming titles, through playable demo’s, livestreams and chats with the developers.

The Monolithic that is Steam has promised “hundreds of demos” to be made available to players, over the course of an entire week. Mirroring their dense catalogue, these games promise to cover every genre, from action-fueled shooters to head-scratching puzzlers and everything in between.

Starting next week, this will be my first Next Fest, an event Valve hosts twice a year, Hopefully I’ll be able to unearth a new obsession or two. Looking at their previous offerings, last October Steam shared early looks at the Talos Principle II, Lethal company and American Arcadia, all games that have gone on to win notable success, either with critics or fans.

Regardless of what you might think of their content moderation, Valve have a reputation to uphold, as more and more competing platforms crop up. These aren’t some bottom of the barrel games, jumping in for easy publicity, so it’s a chance to sneak into games that will dominate the conversation over the next few months. That being said, there are bound to be countless indie darlings squirrelled away in the cracks, if you find yourself are looking to find something off the beaten track.

Either way, Next Fest should be well worth you checking out it. After all, it’s not often we’re granted the opportunity to get hands on, with so many new games, without going bankrupt.

Don’t want to miss out? Steam can notify you the moment the event goes live. They’ve also made available a catalogue of previous years, to let you get a feel for what to expect.

Next Fest starts on February the 5th and runs for the entire week, including the 12th.
